The Society of Engineering Science is pleased to announce that a Student Abstract/Presentation Competition will be held at the 44th Annual Meeting at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.

Student Abstract/Presentation Competition

The 2007 SES Student Abstract/Presentation Competition provides students the opportunity to prepare technical publications and presentations, and interact with colleagues in their field. Participation is open to all full-time graduate students pursuing a degree in an engineering or scientific discipline at an accredited college or university. Awards are based on a combination of the extended abstract and the presentation delivered. First authorship and the presentation must be by the student(s) competing for the award. Criteria for judging include the work’s importance in advancing the state of the art; the technical approach; rational, sufficient and consistent results; verification and validation (if applicable); and what was learned; as well as presentation and writing style, clarity, and format. The student(s) must write the abstract and prepare the presentation slides themselves. Two two-hour sessions will be devoted to fifteen-minute student presentations on Monday afternoon, and it is anticipated that there will be eight MS and eight PhD students selected to present based on the extended abstracts submitted. The top three entries will be announced at the meeting banquet on Tuesday evening of the conference, and the students will be presented with their awards at that time.

Please follow the deadlines and instructions as outlined for regular abstract submissions. On the webpage asking you to submit the abstract file, you must put a “check” in the box next to “Abstract to be submitted for Student Abstract/Presentation Competition”, and choose the symposium entitled “Student Abstract/Presentation Competition”.
